Another Case of the Mon-daze...

"Gee, that weekend really dragged...
It's good to get away from friends and family
and get back to business! Yeah! Who's with me?
Hmm... It seems like some of you are barely awake..."
Monday? Not again, man.
I swear I used to work for this guy. Same smug grin and everything.

Rebel Yell...

Come on girls play nice! Or naughty...
Hell, I don't really care.
Mortal Kombat!
(Gotta yell it)

Seems as if another Mortal Kombat movie will soon be in the works.

While I'm sure the plot will be as solid as the story is compelling, I'm just looking forward to catching a buzz, and taking a trip through my childhood with a bunch of costumed characters beating the shit out of each other.

Let's raise a glass to hot girls in sexy outfits, killer music, and senseless voilence.
Cheers!

Still Breathing...

That which doesn't kill us
makes us need stronger coffee...
I got up this morning and felt pretty good. My complexion was a bit off, but what do you expect for a Monday?

So unless my restless spirit is just lashing away at the keyboard... It's a little surreal, but I'm still alive.

Better luck next time.

Star Wars Episode I: Racer

Star Wars Episode I: Racer
On my never-ending quest to be irrelevant, I took a trip back to N64's golden era to appreciate Star Wars Episode I: Racer.

Hard to believe that it's been seventeen years since I've played this game. I recall conquering all the circuits of the entire game during an extended weekend rental... Obviously I had a lot more time on my hands back then!

Also added a few sketches of the podracer pilots to my deviantArt:

SMB3: Un-Warped World Tour...

Completing Super Mario Bros 3 - Without using Warp Zone.

The "traditional" way to complete Super Mario Bros 3 is to stock up on powerups, get a couple warp whistles and jump to the end. This allows the player to skip past the hellish worlds 6 & 7 which can be quite unforgiving.

Taking the most direct route, a seasoned player can beat the game in about 15 minutes...
But battling through every single world and making it to the end is something that most players haven't done...

Settle the score with Trevelyan - In record time!

GoldenEye 007 - Cradle 00 Agent 0:34 (World Record!)

I stumbled upon a really cool GoldenEye 007 video on YouTube...

With a combination of skill and luck, the Cradle mission is conquered in 34 seconds on 00 Agent difficulty.

James Bond picks up a hand grenade (randomly dropped by a guard). Pulling the pin as he chases Alec Trevelyan, the grenade is tossed into Trevelyan's path, and the former MI6 agent is killed in the explosion. You gotta see it to believe it.

Alternatively, another cool video shows the Cradle mission on Agent difficulty using a slightly different method, still finishing the job and getting down to business with Natalya in 34 seconds...

It's on the Japanese version of GoldenEye 007, but still pretty cool.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The GoldenEye World Record for Cradle on Agent was reduced to just 33 seconds in 2018 (first set by Timmy Johansson). Approximately fifty other agents have also managed to match that mark...

GoldenEye: Legend & Legacy

Last year, when I took a break from editing the GoldenEye missions, I got somewhat sidetracked by the incredibly addictive GoldenEye X. (The Perfect Dark Mod that incorporates all the GoldenEye weapons, characters, and levels, which has enabled players to re-live an enhanced experience of GoldenEye 007).

With a bit of time to kill, I downloaded the latest GoldenEye X patch, and went hunting for thrills. Coming up with twisted combinations of opponents & weapons, I've found myself playing Random arenas just for kicks...  Which led to a brief update of my GoldenEye Tribute Page to include a brief introduction to GoldenEye X, which includes a "Simulant Reference Chart"...

GoldenEye is more than just a game to me... It was a big cornerstone of my ill-spent youth, with fond memories of blasting friends to death for endless hours of harmless fun. Even guys who were "too cool" for video games were obsessing over this game, planning weekend deathmatches, or raving over the previous weekend's GoldenEye session.

Multiplayer mode of the original GoldenEye 007 contained weapon sets were frozen, a handful of single player maps, with no CPU opponents available. Despite these shortcomings, the game's Multiplayer mode was still incredible...

The things that have been done with the GoldenEye X project are simply unreal. But perhaps what's even more intriguing and awe-inspiring, is how GoldenEye X has been crafted so tastefully and elegantly. In the latest releases of  GoldenEye X, (especially with the new intro and music, displays and sound effects), the Perfect Dark atmosphere has been replaced by the classic Bond aura that we all know and love.

I definitely hope to see the Cradle and Frigate remain in future releases of the GoldenEye X patch. Even if they're imperfect, it's a thrill to have them available in the menu.

Congrats to Wreck, SubDrag, and the other skilled individuals that made GoldenEye X possible. The never-ending enjoyment of my favorite game has taken me back to a better time... A simpler time.
